Google has quietly launched its highly anticipated Pixel 9a in India, positioning it as a strong competitor to Apple’s iPhone 16e. Running on Android 15, the smartphone comes with a promise of seven years of OS and security updates.

Pixel 9a Price in India
The Pixel 9a is priced at ₹49,999 and includes 8GB RAM with 256GB of internal storage. It will be available in four colors: Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain. While an official release date is yet to be announced, Google has confirmed that the device will hit the Indian market next month through its retail partners.

For a limited period, buyers can avail of a ₹3,000 cashback offer and a 24-month no-cost EMI option via select banks and financing providers, including HDFC Bank, IDFC Bank, and Bajaj Finserv. Although initially expected to be available next week, recent reports suggest that the launch has been delayed to April, with pre-orders currently unavailable.

The Pixel 9a is a dual SIM (Nano + eSIM) smartphone operating on Android 15, ensuring seven years of software updates. It features a 6.3-inch Actua pOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,424 pixels. The screen supports a dynamic refresh rate of 60Hz to 120Hz and offers 2,700 nits of peak brightness, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Google’s Tensor G4 processor, paired with a Titan M2 security coprocessor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of non-expandable internal storage.

Camera and AI Features
For photography, the Pixel 9a houses a 48MP primary rear camera with a 1/2-inch sensor, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), closed-loop autofocus, and an f/1.7 aperture. Additionally, it has a 13MP ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view and an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera is a 13MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture, designed for high-quality selfies and video calls.

Google has incorporated various AI-powered camera tools, including Macro Focus, Add Me, Night Sight, Reimagine, Magic Eraser, Best Take, Photo Unblur, and Portrait Light. The primary camera supports 4K recording at 60fps, while the front camera can shoot in 4K at 30fps. Other video capabilities include Cinematic Pan, Slo-Mo (240fps), Night Sight Timelapse, and Optical Video Stabilization.

Battery, Connectivity & Build
The Pixel 9a supports 23W wired fast charging and 7.5W wireless charging. Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C 3.2 port. Security features include an in-display fingerprint sensor and Face Unlock.

In terms of durability, the device features an aluminum frame with a matte back and rounded edges. It now carries an IP68 rating, an upgrade from last year’s IP67, making it resistant to dust and water, with the ability to withstand submersion in 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. The phone weighs 185.9g and measures 154.7 x 73.3 x 8.9mm.
